After spending numerous years working in schools and homes with children who have autism, she finally managed to work up the courage to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and finally let loose all those imaginary friends she has floating around in her head.
She is an avid reader, daydreamer, tea drinker, people watcher, wannabe amateur baker, appreciator of all things whiskey related and hopeless television addict.
HOW I CAME UP WITH THE IDEA FOR THE BOOK:
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a major bookworm and I’ve always had trouble sleeping. To help put myself to sleep, I would create stories in my mind. As I got older, the stories became very different, influenced by all the amazing books from authors I admire.
One day, I was in between work, and thoroughly depressed from job searching. I decided that I would look for a new book series to read to pass time, but when searching I simply couldn’t find something new that suited the mood I was in. So, I started writing and then just couldn’t stop.
I wrote the kinds of characters, settings and story I would want to read about and then ‘Falling Completely (Starling Falls #1)’, my debut novel, was born.
It has been the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but so worth it. The feedback from the book has been overwhelming, and readers have been so lovely. I’ve learnt so much over the whole process. Pressing the publish button was, hands down, one of the best things I’ve ever done.
At the moment, I’m working on ‘Falling Sweetly’ which is book two of the Starling Falls Series (they are interconnected standalones), and I’m loving writing it!
I also have a free short story series based on the characters from the book, showing small snippets from the character’s lives (because they just would not leave me alone!) called ‘Starling Falls Snippets’. The first one was called ‘Valentine’s Day’ and can be found for free on Smashwords.
